One Minute Geology is run by David and Sharon Dobson.
David splits his time between being Professor of Earth Materials at University College London and enjoying the UK mountains. His research focusses on the rheological properties of the deep interior of the Earth and the processes which drive plate tectonics. He uses a combination of laboratory experiments and field studies to investigate deformation processes in the Earth’s crust and mantle. He teaches laboratory and field classes at undergraduate and graduate levels. He is a keen walker and mountaineer, in both summer and winter, and is a qualified Summer Mountain Leader.
Sharon is a qualified Summer Mountain Leader and is working towards her Winter Mountain Leader qualification. She enjoys long mountain walks and wild camping. She has a particular interest in encouraging women into independence in the mountains.
